“I love how varied the role is, every day is different and I get to be involved in so many different projects and developments!”
5. What made you choose this career?
“I had first become aware of the Professional Services role when I was at University. I had always been inspired by a talk we had and had aspirations to move into that role.
I wanted to contribute to the profession via a head office perspective and make a real difference across the company from branch teams, departments, and ultimately to patients.”
6. What does a typical day look like?
“My day to day role is really varied and there’s often the odd surprise, which keeps things interesting. I look after the Professional Services Department, supporting clinical governance, compliance, enhanced services, CPD, education and training, contracts and equipment. No two days are the same, I might be meeting with suppliers to plan support for our clinicians, helping the team with their day to day work, or collaborating with other departments on key projects.”
7. What’s one common misconception about your role?
“Its easy and I spend most of my day sipping tea! In reality, there are plenty of responsibilities, projects, timelines and constant need to innovate.”
8. How has your role changed since you started?
“A lot! I joined the role as a maternity contract cover, with time I picked up more responsibilities and before I knew it I moved into a permanent contract and was managing the department and leading on projects and ideas!”
9. What advice would you give to someone wanting to work in Training?
“Roles like this are very rare! The most important aspect is being able to work collaboratively and harmoniously with lots of different people across the business from branch level, different departments, suppliers and board level. You must be adaptable, driven and proactive.”
10. What kind of projects have you worked on that you’re especially proud of?
“I am really pleased with the real cultural shift towards supporting our clinicians. We’re focusing much more on CPD, education, training, and ongoing support so they feel confident and equipped to provide the very best care for our patients.”
